The name Beast School is a natural extension of our well-established brand, Beast Runners.

Over the years, Beast Runners has earned strong recognition and trust from Taiwan’s outdoor community. The name represents a spirit of boldness, freedom, and a deep connection with nature. To preserve this identity and reinforce our brand consistency, we chose to name our educational base Beast School.

Simple, memorable, and powerful, Beast School is more than a school—it is a place where people come to learn, grow, and reconnect with nature, under the same spirit that defines Beast Runners.

Our Philosophy

Guided by the principle “Explore Taiwan’s mountains and live in harmony with nature,” Beast Runners created Beast School not only to connect people to the mountains through trail running, but to offer diverse outdoor adventures, reflective indoor programs, and deep immersive experiences.

Our goal is to help participants reconnect with nature, the land, and themselves, and find a deeper sense of meaning through their time in the wild.
We are committed to using races and cultural experiences to showcase Taiwan’s majestic landscapes and the stories of its Indigenous peoples. We aim to share the beauty of our natural and cultural heritage with people all over the world.
Our coaching team at Beast School consists of experts from military, police, fire services, education, and search & rescue, who bring years of experience and passion to outdoor education. Through structured training and mentorship, we empower local youth to not only gain outdoor skills but also become cultural ambassadors and nature stewards.

We believe that being a “Beast Runner” is not just about adventure—it’s about living with intention, deeply connected to the land.

Founders of Beast Runners & Beast School

Founding Story

Beast Runners Taiwan was founded by Iwan Robu, an Indigenous Taiwanese of Seediq and Atayal descent, and her husband Petr Novotny, an outdoor expert from the Czech Republic.

Iwan has long served as a cultural bridge between Indigenous wisdom and modern outdoor experiences. She is deeply rooted in Taiwan’s mountains and is committed to uplifting local culture through nature education and action.

Petr brings his expertise in trail running, mapping, and mountain route planning, having personally explored Taiwan’s most remote trails and compiled a GPS database of over 40,000 km of routes. He has also taken part in more than 40 mountain rescue missions, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to mountain safety.

Together, they created Beast School, a space born of their shared vision: A Taiwan-rooted, mountain-based educational platform that invites people to return to instinct, rediscover freedom, and grow through wild learning.

They believe everyone carries a “Beast Runner” within—a soul that longs to run, explore, and live freely in the natural world.

Our logo features a deep red background with a bold beast footprint, symbolizing our call to return to nature and awaken our primal instinct.
